Thoughts on Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour
By Ian
I have Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour. It is very fun. I recently unlocked Boo. It’s fun because it’s challenging, and there’s no “last chances”. There is a full set of clubs to choose from, and a ton of modes, like Tournament, Near-Pin, and Side Games. Beginners should use Lessons often, which is basically a big how-to, with driving, approach, and putting strategies. But, on the other hand, many modes you can only play by yourself and friends, no computer players. It’s a very fun game, great music, difficulty, and feel.
Mario Kart: Double Dash! is the fourth game in the Mario Kart series by Nintendo. I think it is amazing, containing elements from newer and older games in the series, along with its
own uniqueness. I like the crazy, uncontrolled racket in the game combined with danger all around. For a beginner Rainbow Road is a nightmare. Beginners should start out with simple courses, like Baby Park, to prepare.
It's a very bumpy ride, so I wouldn't suggest it if you want to go smooth and steady!
Rating: 9/10
Great game, but difficulty is higher than most games in the series.

WiiU
By Duran We've reviewed game consoles/console extensions ever since we started this camp. We reviewed the Kinect, Ezra reviewed the PS Vita, and I talked about whether the 3DS or the PS Vita would be more popular. Only until now has Nintendo given enough info for me to start a review on the successor to the Wii, the Wii U. This is that review. FEATURES OF THE NEW SYSTEM:
-HD compatibility -HDMI 1.4 -Supports Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon Instant Video, and YouTube -Lets you switch screen from TV to GamePad -Can be used as a universal remote for your TV -Capable of playing most normal Wii games -Normal game console will be compatible -A virtual console will be available just like the regular Wii -8GB Flash memory (compared to the 512MB of a normal Wii) -Sleeker console design A NEW CONTROLLER In E3 2011, Nintendo revealed the Wii U... With a new controller. The "second screen" is called the GamePad, and will be the main controller for the new console. With a 3-axis accelerometer and 3-axis gyroscope, microphone and speakers, a resistive touchscreen with stylus, front-facing camera, two analog sticks that can act as buttons too, a bunch of ACTUAL buttons, Bluetooth, and a "rumble" feature, you will have maximum interaction to the GamePad, and the GamePad to the Wii U. There will be another controller, sold separately, that will make the Wii U better for shooters. That was one flaw of the regular Wii. The controller wasn't very good for shooters (I can't keep playing the story mode on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare again and again!!). The Wii U won't support GameCube discs and controllers like the regular Wii, but the Virtual Console will include GameCube titles (Nintendo thought of everything!). The Virtual Console from the regular Wii had titles from the S/NES, Sega Master System, Commodore 64, the arcade, Sega Genesis, and Nintendo 64. You should expect the Wii U Virtual Console to have games from these consoles, and the GameCube. Some games you'll be able to play with just the GamePad, so you can play a game undisturbed when someone wishes to change the channel. Like the most popular feature on the Wii, the moving around, Sony and Microsoft are probably going to rip off the Wii U's "second screen" controller. And just like last time, they're probably going to improve it, sadly. Still, this is going to be Nintendo's big break, providing appeal to hardcore gamers, like me, and gamers that had fun with the regular Wii. |
What Makes A Good Video Game?
Q & A with the Aerobic Newspaper! Q) What is the key to having fun and staying safe playing video games? A) Friends. A) There is no perfect game. Some are better than others. What really makes a good video game, in my opinion, is when the creators achieve what they aim for. A) You need OK graphics, and you a good story line, unless it’s one of those non-story games. A) You have to have a constant feeling of success. A) Multiplayer is helpful for sharing that feeling of success. It makes it more fun to play with someone else because you share the sense of purpose and achievement. Q) Do you run into too many people online you don’t know? A) No. You can go to a place called a party and talk or play with the people you know. You don’t have to play with people you don’t know. Q) What’s it like to play with people you don’t know? A) It’s kind of fun because you can meet new people. You can make friends. And if it’s someone you don’t like that much you can leave the party or turn off your headset. Q) Have you met creepy people online?
A) Not really, just sort of some scamming-type people occasionally. A kid last night said, “Hey, I’ll give you a million points of you give me your email”. Of course I don’t do that ever. Q) What are good manners and safety practices for video gaming? A) Never give away your information: Where you live. Your real name. Your email address or your passwords. A) Pick good user names and passwords - don’t have your password 12345. A) Stay away from angry people. Just mute them, or leave the space. Q) Do you have limits for screen time? A) No. Not really. I just try to get exercise. but, oh my gosh, I did play last night until 10:30, but I took a 2 hour soccer break. A) The average kid watches 3 hours a day of television, and spends 4 hours and 48 minutes on the computer (that’s for kids age 9-13). That seems like a lot if you are only awake for, like, 14 or 15 hours. |
